Two people were killed and one woman was critically injured in a series of stabbings in Davis, California.
David Breaux and Karim Abou Najm were identified as the two people who were killed.
Breaux was a well-known community member and a Stanford graduate who was instrumental in the addition of a "Compassion Bench" in 2013.
Najm was a 20-year-old UC Davis student studying computer science who was set to graduate in six weeks.
The third victim, an unidentified woman, was stabbed in a homeless encampment in Davis.
Police believe the stabbings may be connected and are looking for a man matching a certain description.
The FBI has been called in to help with the investigation.
UC Davis is increasing escort availability for its Safe Ride program as an added precaution for students.
