Their family shines bright like a diamond! Rihanna and ASAP Rocky have seen their entire world shift since becoming parents.
“It’s everything. You really don’t remember life before, that’s the craziest thing ever,” the Fenty founder gushed to British Vogue in a February 2023 cover story. “You literally try to remember it — and there are photos of my life before – but the feeling, the desires, the things that you enjoy, everything, you just don’t identify with it because you don’t even allow yourself mentally to get that far, because … it doesn’t matter.”
She continued at the time: “Essentially, from one person, I became two. You walk into the hospital as a couple and leave as a family of three. It’s nuts. And oh, my gosh, those first days are insane. You don’t sleep. At all. Not even if you wanted to. We came home, cold turkey, had no one. It was just us as parents and our baby.”
Rihanna and the “Fashion Killa” rapper — who began dating in 2020, of which Us Weekly broke the news — welcomed their first child, a son, in May 2022. The pair did not publicly share his name until his first birthday. Their baby boy’s moniker is RZA Athleston Mayers, which takes inspiration from the Wu-Tang Clan frontman. (Baby RZA shares the same middle and last name as Rocky.)
“WU TANG IZ 4 DA CHUREN 🤲” HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO MY 1st BORN. RZA❤️,” Rocky wrote via Instagram in May 2023, confirming the couple’s name inspiration is based on musician Robert Fitzgerald Diggs.
As the Barbados native and Rocky continued doting on their son, they announced in February 2023 that they were expecting a second child. Rihanna debuted her second baby bump in the middle of her headlining performance at the Super Bowl LVII halftime show.
“She was truly honored to get this chance, and the fact she got to reveal her pregnancy at the same time was just magical,” a source exclusively told Us at the time. “It was something she and ASAP wanted to announce in a special way, and both of them agree nothing could be more special than on stage at Super Bowl halftime.”
The insider added: “As far as family moments go it’s a pretty unbeatable memory they’ll treasure together their whole lives.”
Rihanna later dressed up her growing belly at the 2023 Met Gala that May, when she and Rocky closed out the red carpet. During the fashion benefit, she even offered a rare update about her pregnancy journey.
“It’s so different from the first one. No cravings. Tons of nausea. Everything’s different, but I’m enjoying it,” the “We Found Love” artist told Entertainment Tonight on the Metropolitan Museum of Art steps. “I feel good. I feel energetic.”
