Halsey and Alev Aydin broke up after dating for two years. The singer has asked for full custody of their one-year-old son, Ender Ridley. Page Six got court papers that show the 28-year-old asked for full physical custody on April 5.
But Halsey, who uses the pronouns “they” and “them,” asked for joint formal custody, shared expenses, and the right to visit. Halsey and Aydin haven’t talked about their split on social media, but a person close to the singer says that the two are still friends.
Halsey Files for Full Custody
“The divorce is completely amicable, and they are co-parenting; they are raising their son together,” a source told Page Six on Tuesday. An source said that Halsey “just had to file that way” because they are going on tour this summer and “it’s a formality so the singer can bring their son with them.”
Halsey‘s representatives for a reaction, but they didn’t answer right away. The “Closer” singer told the 40-year-old that their first child would be born in January 2021. She also confirmed that they were together.
At the time, the singer wrote “Surprise!” under a number of topless pictures that showed her baby bump. Aydin, who was tagged in the post, put the photos on his Instagram Story and wrote, “Heart so full, I love you sweetness.” The couple had their first child less than six months later.
Halsey called it “the most ‘rare’ and euphoric birth.” The singer said that they had “miscarried three times” before having their “rainbow kid.” In a letter to Vogue after the Supreme Court’s recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, they said, “It seemed cruelly ironic that I could get pregnant easily but struggled to keep a pregnancy going.”
“After one of my miscarriages, I needed “aftercare,” which is a nice way of saying I needed an abortion because my body couldn’t end the pregnancy on its own and I could get sepsis if I didn’t get medical help.
They went on to talk about how scary and life-saving the situation was, saying they felt “afraid” and “helpless” but knew it was their only choice. Halsey paid tribute to Aydin on Valentine’s Day in February.
It’s not clear when the pair broke up. The singer labeled a picture of herself kissing Aydin with the word “ya’aburnee,” which means “You bury me.” They also showed a picture of the producer and their little boy going through a garden.
